The James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) is a submillimetre-wavelength radio telescope operating in the far-infrared to microwave frequncy range. It is located near the summit of Mauna Kea at an altitude of 4,092 m (13,425 feet). Its primary mirror has a diameter og 15 metres (16.4 yards), making it the world's largest single-dish submillimetre telescope. Its primary mission is to study the Solar System, interstellar dust and gas, and distant galaxies.
